Woman Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver In Northridge, Reward Offered

Authorities are looking for the driver of a white van who struck and killed a woman in the early morning hours Monday.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — Police in Northridge are looking for a driver who struck and killed a woman in Northridge on Monday.

Authorities on Tuesday are reminding people that the city offers $50,000 for fatal hit-and-run drivers and urged witnesses to come forward.

According to Los Angeles police and fire department officials, a woman in her 30s was pushing a shopping cart in the road in the early morning hours at Tampa Avenue and Business Center Drivewhen she was struck. The woman was struck on the northbound side of Tampa just before 3 a.m., according to the police department.

"A pedestrian was pushing a shopping cart north on Tampa Avenue on the roadway, near the curb, when she was struck by a white van," the Los Angeles Police Department announced. "The driver of the white van continued north on Tampa Avenue towards Nordhoff Street, failing to stop and identify themselves, or render aid as required by law."

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived and pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

Her name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.
