1 Arrest, 12 Citations At Marin County DUI Checkpoint
Novato police announced there would be a checkpoint Friday but did not disclose the location beforehand.
NOVATO, CA — The Novato Police Department conducted a DUI checkpoint Friday on Novato Boulevard near Los Alondras Court that resulted in one arrest and 12 citations for other drivers, police said.
The NPD announced there would be a DUI checkpoint on Friday but did not say exactly where it would be held.
At the Friday checkpoint, police said out of the 1,157 people they dealt with, one person was arrested for driving under the influence, two drivers were cited for driving with a suspended license, 10 drivers were cited for driving without a license, and 59 cars were directed to a secondary screening area.

“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” said Reza Pourfarhani, an NPD sergeant. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improve traffic safety.”
Officers want to remind the community, especially on Cinco De Mayo, that impaired driving is not just from alcohol but cannabis and some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may also interfere with driving.
