Novato Blaze Explodes To 114 Acres (Updated)
The Novato Fire District issued an alert at 4:46 p.m. urging residents to avoid the area of the Redwood Sanitary Landfill.
Updated at 9:58 p.m.: The blaze was 100 percent contained as of 9:44 p.m., the Novato Fire District said in an alert. Crews will remain on scene overnight, the agency said.
Updated at 8:31 p.m.: The 113-acre Redwood fire was 75 percent contained as of 8:06 p.m., Cal Fire tweeted at 8:06 p.m.
Updated at 6:04 p.m.: The blaze in the area of Redwood Sanitary Landfill has exploded to 114 acres and is 40 percent contained, the Marin County Sheriff's Office said in a 5:51 p.m. alert. The fire was 40 percent contained. No evacuation orders have been issued and there is no threat to the public or public property.
