75-Year-Old Cotati Man Dies After SUV Overturns On 101

Police say the car collided with several objects including a drainage culvert, fence, and metal pole.

COTATI, CA — A 75-year-old Cotati man died after his SUV veered off U.S. Highway 101, collided with several fixed objects and overturned Saturday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol said.

The northbound 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan left the highway south of Bel Marin Keys Boulevard about 4:45 p.m., the CHP said.

The SUV collided with several objects including a drainage culvert, a fence and a metal pole before coming to rest on its roof on Nave Drive, adjacent to the highway, Officer Darrel Horner said.

The driver, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to a hospital where he died of his injuries, the CHP said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, Horner said.
