Beloved City Councilmember Dies In Novato

NOVATO, CA — The City of Novato announced late Monday evening that councilmember Mark Milberg had died.

"It is with profound sadness that the City of Novato shares condolences on the passing of City Councilmember Mark Milberg, a dedicated public servant and cherished member of our community," Novato officials said.

Milberg was appointed to the Novato City Council in 2021 and served as mayor in 2024 after working on the Novato Citizens Finance Advisory and Oversight Committee.

"In every role, Mark demonstrated wisdom, integrity and a genuine commitment to the well-being of our community," officials said. "Mark’s warmth, friendship and tireless dedication to Novato touched countless lives. His leadership, kindness and unwavering support for his community leave a legacy that will be remembered for years to come."

The City will shared information regarding services when available and is asking the family’s privacy be respected.
