City Wants Residents’ Input To Improve Marin County Park After Closing Homeless Encampment
Over 400 people have responded to the local survey but there is still time to provide input.
NOVATO, CA — The City of Novato is exploring options to improve a quaint park behind the library, but wants to know from residents what they want added by June 19.
Novato Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department has created a survey in hopes to get feedback on what locals want the future of Lee Gerner Park to look like.
Lee Gerner Park is located at 1720 Novato Blvd., and is tucked right behind the Novato Library. Currently, it has a grassy area, a walking path and a beloved bridge. It was the location of a homeless encampment until the Novato City Council chose to shut it down.

So far, over 400 people have responded to the survey.
Of the 107 registered responses, 71% of people have responded they drive to the parks rather than use public transportation, walk, run or use a bicycle, scooter or skateboard. Over 40% of people said they visit this park, the library or surrounding businesses weekly, and nearly 30% said they visit monthly.

Parents with children ages 6 to 12 have responded the most at over 37%. Nearly 50% of people responded saying if the park was improved they would visit it weekly.
Take the survey here by 11:59 p.m. on June 19.
The park for was once a homeless encampment until the Novato City Council chose to close it on April 19.
