The driver, 31-year-old Shawn Kessler of Novato, was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and arrested at the hospital, police said. He will be booked into county jail once he is medically cleared on a charge of felony driving under the influence causing injury, according to police.
“This is an important reminder that driving under the influence can lead to severe consequences or even cause death,” the Novato Police Department said in a social media post. “Please do not drink and drive, especially this holiday weekend and keep in mind the severity of a simple decision.”
