Former Marin County Police Chief Pens Crime Novel

This is the third novel by a former police chief who leans on his Bay Area knowledge in his writing.

NOVATO, CA — A former Bay-Area police chief released his third novel Thursday, which focuses on international art forgery and theft crimes.

Brian Brady, who was a police chief in Novato for nearly 12 years, released “Greed” on Thursday, which centers on a group of thieves working out of New York, Amsterdam and Paris who engage in art forgery and theft crimes, successfully.

“With this being my third book, I feel that I’m really hitting my stride as an author,” Brady said. “As readers will see by the cover, I’m expanding geographically too, with scenes taking place in other countries. That being said, I’ve spent most of my life in the Bay Area, and San Francisco plays a significant role in ‘Greed,’ just as it did in my previous two books.”

Through Brady’s time working as a police chief in Novato, as well as serving in four other police departments, he collected a wealth of stories from what he described as a long list of fascinating people. Brady said he reflects on his experiences in his writing and blends characters drawn from real life with his own imagination.

His previous book “Hiding In Plain Sight” focuses on a young girl taken by a serial killer in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood, and his other novel “Oh, What a Tangled Web,” is about a San Francisco serial killer whose victims are sex workers.
