Testing plays an important role in identifying active COVID-19 infection and the need to quarantine or isolate from others with the purpose of limiting community spread of the virus.

Anyone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms is urged to be tested as soon as possible, even if that person is already fully vaccinated.

Those who are unvaccinated should get tested if they:

  • Have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19.
  • Have taken part in activities that put them at higher risk for COVID-19; such as travel, attending large gatherings, or being in crowded indoor settings.
  • Their employer, such as a health care facility, requires routine screening.

Testing appointments are accessible throughout Marin County at medical offices, community test sites, pharmacies, and independent providers.

Free testing for the uninsured is available at most locations.
