NOVATO, CA — The Novato Fire District Board of Directors held a special meeting Wednesday evening at city hall to swear in the new Novato Fire Chief.
Battalion Chief Dan Peters was announced as the new fire chief on March 25.
“Coming from a family of firefighters, I am honored to lead Novato Fire and continue our mission of protecting and serving the community,” Peters said. “I look forward to working alongside our dedicated team to build on our strong foundation.”
Peters has served as a firefighter, paramedic, captain and battalion chief in his 29 years of service.
“Dan Peters has been a dedicated leader in this district for over two decades, demonstrating operational excellence and a strong commitment to our firefighters and the community,” said Bruce Goines, board of directors president. “His leadership, integrity and vision will guide Novato Fire into the future.”
According to Novato Fire, Peters played a key role in coordinating Novato Fire’s first reserve program.
Peters was a member for 14 years of Marin’s USAR CAL-EMA Regional Taskforce, individuals with specialized training in urban search and rescue environments. He also served four terms as the president and vice president of the Novato Professional Firefighters Association union.
