Novato Biotech Holds Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

Ultragenyx on Thursday unveiled its new facility at 32 Leveroni Court in Novato.

NOVATO, CA β€” A Marin-based biotech held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday for its new facility.

Ultragenyx unveiled its new facility at 32 Leveroni Court in Novato.

The new facility creates 20,000 square feet of lab space that will mainly be dedicated to supporting translational research. Currently, 32 employees work in the facility and additional hires are planned.

Ultragenyx has purchased 100 purchased renewable electricity for the Novato headquarters as part of its β€œongoing effort to conduct business in an environmentally responsible manner,” the company said in a statement.

Ultragenyx is a biopharmaceutical company that develops treatments for serious rare and ultra-rare genetic diseases.

Ultragenyx Founder and CEO Dr. Emil Kakkis in 2010 chose to make Novato the company’s headquarters, which today, is home to almost half of Ultragenyx’s global workforce of over 1,100 employees.

β€œThe company has three first-ever treatments approved for rare diseases and is passionate about finding, developing and bringing novel and innovative treatments to pediatric and adult patients in California, the U.S. and around the world,” the company said in a statement
