Firefighters Contain Novato Blaze, Evacuation Orders Lifted (Updated)

Novato residents who live on Olympia Way and Eagle Drive are urged to evacuate, police said.

Updated at 5:09 p.m.: "Evacuation orders have been lifted," police said in a 4:54 p.m. alert.

"Residents may return home however vehicle access might be limited due to Emergency Vehicles. Please proceed with caution."

Updated at 4:44 p.m.: Crews have halted forward progress on a grass fire Wednesday afternoon in Novato, a fire official said.

The quarter-acre fire was reported near Olympia Way and Eagle Drive, located near Indian Valley Preserve and Marin Country Club, and residents on those streets were asked to evacuate, Novato Fire Battalion Chief Jeff Whittet said.

People are asked to avoid the area, Novato police said.

NOVATO, CA — A Marin blaze reported late Wednesday afternoon has triggered evacuations in a Novato neighborhood, police said in a 4:05 p.m. alert.

Police and firefighters are on the scene of a grass fire in the area of Olympia Way and Eagle Drive and are urging the public to avoid the area, according to police.

Olympia Way and Eagle Drive residents are urged to evacuate, police said.
