Novato DUI Checkpoint Leads To 4 Arrests: Cops
The checkpoint was held Friday night from 6 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Rowland and Redwood boulevards.
NOVATO, CA —A DUI checkpoint led to four arrests on Friday night, the Novato Police Department said.
One person was arrested on suspicion of DUI, another person on suspicion of being in possession of a stolen vehicle, and two others for outstanding warrants, police said.
Officers administered field sobriety tests to seven of the 647 motorists contacted during the checkpoint, which was held from 6 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Rowland and Redwood boulevards, police said.

Officers issued 21 citations for driving without a valid license, police said.
“Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired,” the agency said in a statement.

Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
