Novato Experiencing Increase In Vehicle Burglaries, Thefts
With car burglaries and thefts on the rise, Novato Police reminds residents and visitors to not leave valuable items within vehicles.
NOVATO, CA -- A rash of car burglaries has led to the Novato Police Dept. to warn residents to lock their car doors and not let any valuables in their vehicles.
Over the last month, the Novato PD has responded to and investigated a considerable amount of burglaries and thefts from vehicles, with the property stolen frequently being power tools. Most of the crimes were reported by residents of Novato who live in neighborhoods close to Highway 101, but the Police Dept. is encouraging all residents to take extra caution with safeguarding their property.
"In response to this recent crime trend, the Novato Police Department will be increasing efforts to patrol neighborhoods and apartment complexes where most of these crimes have been reported," the NPD posted on social media on May 15. "We would like to take this opportunity to remind our residents and visitors to not leave valuable items within vehicles, including lock boxes installed in truck beds. We know that these items are expensive, and are tools that many use to sustain their livelihood."
