Novato High’s Carl Robinett Wins Prestigious Theater Arts Award
Robinett is among 92 student-actors who've been invited to June 27 National High School Musical Theatre Awards in New York City.

NOVATO, CA — A Novato High School student earlier this week took home a prestigious theater arts award in a statewide competition, and Carl Robinett is now in the running for national honors.
Robinett on Monday was named best lead actor by in 2022 Rita Moreno California High School Musical Honors awards for his portrayal of the character Frederick in Young Frankenstein.
A panel of nationally recognized judges—including Danny Gorman, Anthony Jackson, and Tory Ross Roman—announced the winners of at San Jose’s Center for the Performing Arts at in-person ceremony.

Franklin High of Elk Grove’s Isabella Paragas won for lead actress for her portrayal of Katherine Blake in Disney’s Freaky Friday.
Robinett and Paragas both earned invitations to the June 27 National High School Musical Theatre Awards ceremony—also known as the Jimmy Awards.

They will be among 92 student-actors who will travel to New York City to make their Broadway stage debuts at the Minskoff Theatre during a June 20-28 New York City visit.
Students during the trip will participate in master classes and receive training and preparation with Broadway coaches and accomplished professionals.
