Novato High School Prom Complicated By Last-Minute Bus Shortage
Novato students and staff scrambled Friday after a bus vendor told them it could only provide two of the seven buses it had promised.
NOVATO, CA — The Novato community came together Saturday to help rescue the Novato High School prom.
School organizers found themselves in a quandary Friday, the day before the prom. A bus vendor that was scheduled to provide seven buses to transport hundreds of students called to say that it only had two buses available, because several drivers didn’t have the proper certification to drive students, according to reports in the Marin Independent Journal and CBS San Francisco.
Caroline Purtell, the high school’s office manager, spent all day Friday calling around to find a last-minute alternative to transport students to and from Lake Chalet in Oakland, according to the Independent Journal. She managed to secure two more buses.
