• Marin Transit gets $5.64M grant for Novato bus hub (marinij.com) — Novato’s Marin Transit operations hub at Rush Landing Road is getting a $5.64 million federal boost to renovate its aging facility and replace three smaller shuttles with larger hybrid buses. Construction on the Novato site, which already has new electric-bus infrastructure, is expected to start later this year and should improve service, security, and working conditions for local transit staff.
   

• Marin presses AT&T over 911 disruption during storm (marinij.com) — When Marin’s 911 system failed during the recent storm, Novato police’s independent dispatch center stayed online and took over emergency calls for agencies across the county. Officials are now pressing AT&T to add backups after flooding at a San Rafael substation knocked out phones, while residents are urged to report any failed 911 attempts from that night.
   

• History: Remembering Marin's iconic bowling alleys (marinij.com) — Novato once hosted two popular bowling centers, Nave Lanes by Ignacio Boulevard and Nave Drive and a public alley at Hamilton Field, both now closed. This history piece traces how those Novato spots fit into Marin’s once-thriving bowling scene, why every alley in the county has disappeared, and where residents now have to travel if they still want to bowl.

  • Did anybody just see the flash that lit up the entire sky?
    I’ve never seen lighting or anything of that degree , actually freaked me out would love to know if anyone else saw that (Nextdoor Rowland-Sunset Parkway)
  • Just saw a beautiful bobcat in perfect condition parked in the middle of River Vista intently watching something (hopefully a ground squirrel) in our neighbor's front yard for at least 5 minutes before a car came up and scared it off.
