Police Arrest Two People After Finding Loaded Assault Weapon in Car in Bel Marin Keys

Investigation dates back to April 23, when police confiscated a gun inside a repossessed car.

Novato Police arrested a Fairfield man and a Vallejo woman on suspicion of a host of charges Tuesday after they found a loaded assault weapon in their car on Galli Drive in Bel Marin Keys.

Novato police Detective Sgt. Mike Howard said the case dates back to April 23, when Novato police learned that a handgun had been found inside a car that had been repossessed and towed to a Bel Marin Keys location. Police confiscated the gun.

According to Howard, 22-year-old Blake David-Murry and 18-year-old Monica Torres-Mendozan came to Bel Marin Keys Tuesday afternoon to retrieve the gun. Novato police contacted them on Galli Drive and found a loaded assault pistol in their car.

Davis-Murry and Torres-Mendoza were booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of possessing an assault weapon, carrying a loaded gun in public and carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle. Police tacked on allegations of drug possession and driving under the influence for Murry

Howard noted that "further charges are anticipated."
