Robbery Locks Down Novato High School, Police Search For Suspects
An armed robbery near Novato High School prompted a lockdown and search of the campus Thursday afternoon.
NOVATO, CA — Novato High School was placed in lockdown Thursday as officers searched for robbery suspects in the area with the help of dogs and drones, according to police.
Law enforcement confirmed the incident a few minutes after noon, citing a robbery and active search underway near the school campus. Within a few minutes, police said officers were securing the school to ensure the safety of all students and staff and asked neighbors to avoid the area until further notice.
In an afternoon update, police said several boys demanded a victim's personal belongings, and allegedly brandished a gun, before running onto the school's campus.

The search continued over the next hour as police established a perimeter and officers and canines combed the campus and surrounding area for the outstanding suspects.
Shortly after 1:30 p.m., police announced a search of the campus was complete and the school was deemed secure. Officers worked with school staffers to establish a safe pickup zone for students in the school's main parking lot.

The suspects remained outstanding Thursday evening, and police asked neighbors to check their home surveillance for footage that could help solve the crime. Anyone with information can contact police at 415-897-4361.
