1st Marine Division to Welcome New Commanding General
Gen. Lawrence D. Nicholson will replace Maj. Gen. Ronald L. Bailey.

The 1st Marine Division will soon have a new commanding general. Maj. Gen. Lawrence D. Nicholson will replace Maj. Gen. Ronald L. Bailey, who has led the division since Jan. 2011.
Nicholson spent 2010 to 2012 as the senior military assistant to the deputy secretary of defense in Washington, D.C. and more recently spent a year servicing as the operations officer for the ISAF Joint Command in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Bailey will soon serve on the Plans, Policies and Operations at the Pentagon.
The change will become official with a change of command ceremony on base Monday.
