CSUSM to offer Master's Degree in Social Work

The university has already received more than 100 applications for the master's program, which was approved last month, according to the university.

California State University San Marcos will begin offering a master's degree in social work this fall, university officials announced today.

The university has already received more than 100 applications for the master's program, which was approved last month, according to the university.

Applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis and the priority admission deadline for fall is June 30.

"We are excited to be able to offer the MSW degree to meet a need for ethical and effective social workers who are culturally sensitive and attuned to the needs of the many diverse populations in our region," university President Karen Hayes said.

Cal State San Marcos students enrolled in the master's of social work program will choose to focus on either children, youth and families or behavior health, and must complete 60 units of course work over two or three years, university officials said.

The aspiring social workers will also have the option to select from two additional specializations, health care and older adults, or military and veterans services, according to the university.
