Lilac Fire 100% Contained, Evacuation Orders Lifted In Bonsall Area
The San Diego County Sheriff's Office lifted all evacuation orders and warnings at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

BONSALL, CA — Evacuation orders have been lifted for a wildfire that scorched dozens of acres, displaced residents and prompted road and school closures Tuesday in San Diego's North County.
The San Diego County Sheriff's Office lifted all evacuation orders and warnings at 8 p.m. Tuesday for the Lilac Fire in the Bonsall area "due to improved containment." The fire had burned 85 acres and was 100% contained as of Wednesday morning.
"Please drive carefully, as firefighters will continue to work in the area to mitigate the hazards and strengthen control lines," the Sheriff's Office said in a news release. "Dust and noise will be present throughout the day and night. Smoke may be seen from areas where the fire is still burning, but there is no threat to the public."

The blaze broke out at 1:19 a.m. near Old Highway 395 and Lilac Road. By 3:20 a.m., the fire had burned 50 acres and was threatening structures, according to Cal Fire San Diego.
By 12:10 p.m., the fire was mapped at 85 acres and 35% contained. The blaze had damaged four structures and displaced 86 residents.

"The forward rate of spread has been stopped," Cal Fire said. "Fire crew will continue to build containment lines and extinguish hotspots within the fire's perimeter."
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
