1 Dead In OC Toll Road Crash Involving Wrong-Way Driver

One person died and five people were hospitalized after a crash involving a wrong-way driver over the weekend.

ORANGE, CA — One person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on the 241 toll road that involved a wrong-way driver early Saturday morning, according to authorities.

Officers responded at around 1:15 a.m. to the northbound freeway, just before the Santiago Canyon Road exit, the Orange County Register reported.

Four vehicles were involved in the crash, and California Highway Patrol officers found one of the vehicles on its side along the off-ramp, according to the CHP.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene. A witness at the scene said five other people were transported to local hospital.

The CHP issued a SigAlert closing all lanes of the 241 to investigate the crash.
