99¢ Fish Tacos At Rubio's: It's 1983 Again - Save The Date
The deal marks the chain's 41st anniversary - when its fish tacos actually were just 99 cents - and coincides with National Fish Taco Day.

CALIFORNIA — Rubio's fish tacos were 99 cents back in the chain's founding days in 1983 in San Diego's Mission Bay. The biz was launched as a walk-up, food stand by then-college student Ralph Rubio, who became hooked on fish tacos after spring breaks in Mexico.
Forty-one years and 270 million fish tacos later, Rubio's Coastal Grill is marking its humble origins with a throwback, 99-cent fish taco deal on Thursday, Jan. 25, which is also National Fish Taco Day .

The offer is limited to four per order, one offer per person, and the order must include an additional menu item, such as a side or drink.
The history or significance of "National Fish Taco Day" is a bit fuzzy, to be sure. But Ralph Rubio deserves some credit for bringing to SoCal the revolutionary idea of putting fish in a taco.
