California residents are complaining about their jobs via hashtags on social media, according to a recent TikTok study.

CALIFORNIA, CA — Think you hate your job? Enough to post about it on social media with a trending hashtag?

Well, you wouldn't be alone, according to a recent TikTok study that found out which cities in America have the unhappiest workers.

The study by resume.io analyzed 50,000 TikTok posts that use hashtags such as #HateMyJob, #Burnout, #WorkSucks, #BadBoss and #ToxicWorkplace — among others — to determine where the nation's most miserable workers resided.

According to the study, California's unhappiest workers are in Riverside, San Francisco, Chula Vista, Irvine and Stockton.

The City of Riverside, which ranked third in the national listing for workplace complaints, earned the ranking with 1,286 social media posts often focusing on warehouse and retail work — which can feel repetitive with little room for growth, according to the report.

In the Bay Area, San Francisco made the list at #7 for its fast-paced tech industry that can foster high-pressure and toxic work environments, the ranking said. The study found 1,270 TikTok posts by unhappy Bay Area workers.

Chula Vista ranked #11 on the list for its many office park and service jobs, "leaving many to vent behind the break room doors," the ranking said. The study found 1,259 TikTok posts complaining about work in the border city.

In Orange County, Irvine — with 1,254 posts — ranked #13 on the list for the high-pressure work environment found in its many office buildings.

Stockton, with 1,217 posts, also placed on the list at #19, with researchers stating: "recovery's on the rise, but many still feel stuck in low-growth jobs with zero upward vibe."
