Body Discovered In Fire-Ravaged Santa Ana Apartment
A person was found dead inside the smoldering apartment and an investigation is underway, Santa Ana Police say.

SANTA ANA, CA — A person was found dead Thursday inside a Santa Ana apartment that was damaged by a fire, and an investigation was underway.
The fire was reported shortly after 3 a.m. in the two-story apartment complex in the 1200 block of East Borchard Avenue in Santa Ana, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.
A 911 call was received indicating that someone may have been still inside the burning building, the OCFA reported.

Firefighters arrived and found "flames out the windows of a downstairs unit threatening the units above," an OCFA statement said. The fire was extinguished in about five minutes.
"Unfortunately, (one) adult victim was found deceased inside the apartment," the OCFA said.

No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was under investigation, and the Santa Ana Police Department was notified. Information was not immediately available on the identity of the person who died.
