Firework Caused Explosion At OC Shopping Center; 1 Arrested: Police
The shopping center was closed and drivers were advised to use alternate routes for much of Tuesday afternoon.
TUSTIN, CA — A male was arrested after setting off a mortar firework Tuesday near a Tustin shopping center, according to police.
The small explosion occurred around 1:15 p.m. in the area of Bank of America at The Village at Tustin Legacy in the 15000 block of Kensington Park Drive, KTLA reported, forcing shoppers and residents to evacuate.
No one was hurt and no structures were damaged, according to police, who had advised travelers to avoid Kensington Park Drive between the retail complex and Valencia Avenue during the investigation. The Village was also closed during the police response, authorities said.
