Los Angeles Angels Fire Manager Joe Maddon Amid Losing Streak
The Angels' decision to fire Joe Maddon comes on the heels of a 12-game losing streak by the baseball team.

ANAHEIM, CA — The Los Angeles Angels have fired manager Joe Maddon following the baseball's team 12th straight loss this season.
Third-base coach Phil Nevin will serve as the team's interim manager, the Angels said.
Tuesday's firing came a day after the Angels' 1-0 loss at home to the Boston Red Sox. The team started strong in the season, with a win-loss record of 24-13 nearly a month before its current losing streak. The team's record now sits at 27-29.

The current losing streak is the worst since the Angels lost 12 in a row during their 1988 season, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Maddon previously coached the Angels from 1994 to 2005, with brief stints as an interim manager. After leaving the Angels organization, he served as the manager of the Tampa Bay Rays and then the Chicago Cubs.
