Man's Plan To Trick Police By Using Brother's Name Backfires: Police
An Orange County man is behind bars after attempting to assume his brother's identity to evade police, police said.

TUSTIN, CA — An Orange County man is behind bars after attempting to assume his brother's identity to evade police, only to find that his brother had an arrest warrant, police said Sunday.
The suspect — who was not identified by name — tried to trick officers during a field detention, the Tustin Police Department reported.
While it was not clear what prompted the detention, police said the suspect's attempts to deceive officers did not go undetected.

"The owner of this sullied spoon assumed his brother's identity during a field detention," a Tustin Police Department news release said. "To his dismay, his brother had an active arrest warrant."
After discovering the man's true identity, police served him three arrest warrants along with two new felony charges for identity theft and a Prop 36 enhancement, police said.
