Masked Men In US Border Patrol Vests Repeatedly Beat OC Father Before Detaining Him

The son of the man, a U.S. Marine, told The Orange County Register that he feels "betrayed" by his father's treatment and arrest.

SANTA ANA, CA — An Orange County father was seen on viral video being beaten and detained by seven or more masked men wearing U.S. Border Patrol vests in Santa Ana.

The violent incident sparked protests in the following hours as well as an online fundraiser, where family members identified the victim as Tustin resident Narciso Barranco, a father to three sons who are all U.S. Marines.

"I feel betrayed," Alejandro Barranco told The Orange County Register. "My dad has no criminal history. He wasn't doing anything bad. He was just working. They way [federal agents] attacked him, I don't think it's right."

In the now-viral video, the father is seen being pinned to the ground while working his landscaping job. The video shows the officers repeatedly punching Barranco while he is on the ground.

The video was shared by Instagram account @SantaAnaProblems and shows a group of men wearing hats and face coverings and police vests converge on Narciso, holding him down while one man repeatedly hits him in the head.

A few men stand guard around the scene before the group seizes Narciso, one man holding a baton at the back of the father's neck to push him into the backseat of a silver SUV.

According to The OC Register, Barranco was in the process of applying for a form of immigration called parole-in-place, which can grant family members of active-duty military who are without legal status permission to stay in the U.S. for a while.

Barranco has no criminal record, the newspaper reported.
