OC Man, 27, Charged with Knife Attack On Woman In Her Apartment

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A 27-year-old Garden Grove man was charged Friday with attacking a woman with a knife.

Anh Duy Phan was charged with attempted murder, false imprisonment, criminal threats, burglary and assault with a deadly weapon, all felonies.

Police were dispatched at 1:22 p.m. Wednesday to the 12500 block of Lorna Street regarding the attack, police said. When officers got on scene, they found the victim with multiple knife wounds to her body and injuries to her neck investigators said that indicated she was strangled, police alleged.

The woman told officers that Phan, an acquaintance of hers, let himself into her apartment uninvited and when they got into an argument, he pulled out a knife and threatened to stab her, police said.

The woman said when she tried to leave the residence Phan pulled her back in, putting his arm around her neck and repeatedly lunging the knife at her, police said. Eventually, he let the woman go and he fled, police alleged.

Officers tracked Phan down in Westminster and arrested him, police said.
