OC Motorcycle-Theft Suspect Dies In Custody
The 34-year-old man was injured during a crash following a police chase last week in Santa Ana, officials said.
SANTA ANA, CA — A 34-year-old suspected motorcycle thief injured during a police chase in Santa Ana last week has died in a hospital, authorities said Monday.
The 34-year-old man, who was not identified, was hospitalized on Jan. 9, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
Officers with the Santa Ana Police Department had initiated a vehicle stop on the man, who was believed to be in possession of a stolen motorcycle. The suspect crashed into a vehicle in the 900 block of West Edinger Avenue, near Flower Street and was hospitalized.

He was slated to be housed at the Intake Release Center in Santa Ana.
The Orange County District Attorney's Office will investigate the in- custody death. The Orange County Sheriff's Department will also conduct an in- custody death review.
