OC Teacher Arrested In Connection With 'Lewd' Texts Sent To A Minor
The 47-year-old Long Beach resident was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of contacting a minor with intent to commit sexual assault.
ORANGE COUNTY, CA — An Orange County teacher was arrested on suspicion of sending a series of "lewd" text messages with a person he believed to be a minor, authorities said.
Roger Kavigan, 47, of Long Beach was arrested on Nov. 23 after authorities investigated the text messages, the Orange County Sheriff's Department said. Investigators believe there may be additional victims.
The arrest was made several days after North Patrol deputies received a report from a resident in unincorporated Santa Ana, who referenced a video posted to social media, police said. In the video, a man confronted the teacher and accused him of sending inappropriate text messages to a minor.
