1. Who struck a man in the head with a machete close to an Anaheim Burger King? The victim fled into the restaurant for safety. “No arrests had been made in connection with the incident.” (KTLA)
2. Angelo's and Vinci's on Harbor Boulevard in Fullerton will close after dinner on Aug. 1. In business for 52 years, it announced its closure by looking back on a long history. “T-E-A-M, my Angelo's and Vinci's family, you are forever in my heart, forever with my gratitude, and forever in my fondest of memories.” (Angelo's and Vinci's)
3. Problems with street vendors in Orange are heating up. The city is looking to impound carts. Meanwhile, there are people “following or harassing code enforcement officers.” “We are being attacked, and we need to continue to protect our citizens and our environment and our sidewalks and everything,” Councilmember Kathy Tavoularis explained. 4. A hiker needed medical help while enjoying an outing in the Blackstar Canyon area. Texting 911, the Orange County Fire Authority sent a helicopter team. “She was flown to a waiting ambulance and E42 firefighter paramedics, who took her to a nearby hospital for treatment.” (Patch)
5. If you’re still looking for something to do this weekend, consider heading to the Sherman Library & Gardens’ Plant-O-Rama in Corona del Mar. Sure, there’ll be plants to buy. However, what sets this event apart for plant lovers is the combination of “rare species and heirloom varieties for sale, and plant experts” from various organizations.
