Here are the top stories today in Orange County:

  1. Ice rinks are popping up all around Orange County, from the Irvine Spectrum ice skating rink to beachfront skating at Surf City Winter Wonderland in Huntington Beach. You'll also find pop-up ice skating at Mission Viejo’s Civic Center Plaza at Rudolph’s Rink, and at Santa Ana’s Winter Village in the Orange County Civic Center’s Plaza of the Flags.   2. A chill will be in the air, with stormy weather expected this week in Orange County. The wintry storm system will bring 60-degree temperatures with rain, the National Weather Service reported. In Southland areas overnight temperatures "are expected to drop significantly." O.C. residents can expect cold temperatures Wednesday "with light winds and a chance of rain." (Orange County Patch)
  3. Hospital beds are "filling up" with children suffering from respiratory illnesses. With few beds available, Orange County supervisors extended the state of emergency on Tuesday. Health officials said that pediatric hospitals are at capacity with children suffering from respiratory illnesses. Orange County health officer Dr. Regina Chinsio-Kwong said, "Our emergency departments are full." (Voice of OC)
