📰 Here are the top stories today in Orange County:
- A group of up to 20 people leaving Hay Karaoke reportedly assaulted a worker in Garden Grove. The 54-year-old worker paving a parking lot asked the group not to step on the asphalt. The attack left the victim with “severe brain injuries, including swelling, bleeding, and skull fractures.” (ABC)
- A woman stabbed a man during “an attempted sexual assault behind a CVS store on the 15400 block of Brookhurst Street” in Westminster. The suspected assailant is a 41-year-old man from Long Beach. Law enforcement noted that he had a stab wound on his right hand. (KTLA)
- Anaheim neighbors get to vote on a hotel worker wage initiative in a special election on Oct. 3. The stand-alone initiative “calls for hotels and event centers to pay a minimum starting wage of $25 per hour.” There are other provisions as well. If passed, it only applies to venues of 20,000 square feet or larger. (City of Anaheim)
- Construction on the retaining wall below San Clemente’s Casa Romantica has begun. The goal is to erect a structure that is 15 feet tall and 300 feet long. Its design should “protect the Surf Line from further slide debris.” We don’t know yet when construction will be completed, or passenger rail service will restart. (Trains)
- OC Animal Care in Tustin offers low-cost spay or neuter appointments for cats and dogs on Friday. You must make an appointment and drop off the pet between 7 and 7:30 a.m. If you’re considering bringing your dog, it must weigh less than 50 pounds. (Heart 4 Pets)
