White House Falsely Brags About In-N-Out, Citing April Fool's Post From Fan Account
The social media post the White House linked to was an April Fool's joke from a fan account claiming the chain was switching to beef tallow.

IRVINE, CA — The White House recently boasted In-N-Out’s switch to beef tallow in a press release about companies delivering on the president’s promise to “Make America Healthy Again,” according to reports. The only problem? The social media announcement the White House reportedly linked to was an April Fool’s joke from a fan account.
“It's official. In-N-Out will be transitioning to 100% pure beef tallow,” said the April 1 post on X from the account named “fan In-N-Out Burger” with the handle @innoutburger_. “The change is set to become effective on 05/01/2025 at all In-N-Out locations.”
The account, which in its biography states it is “not affiliated with In-N-Out,” quickly clarified the post was an April Fool’s joke.

Nevertheless, months later, it showed up in the White House press release, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
The press release has since been changed to tout the Irvine-based chain’s decision to remove synthetic dyes and artificial flavors. In-N-Out made that announcement in May and at the time also said it was “researching better-quality oil for fries.”

The chain’s chief operating officer, Denny Warnick, told USA Today in a statement Tuesday that it had not yet made the switch from sunflower oil but that it was working on an upgrade.
While Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has pushed for tallow over seed oils, cardiologists say vegetable oils are healthier, according to the Chronicle.
