Bystanders, Firefighters Save Surfer's Life In El Granada: Photo
The surfer, a man in his late 50s, collapsed on the sidewalk after getting out of the water and walking up the stairs on Saturday afternoon.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Firefighters saved a surfer’s life on Saturday at Surfer’s Beach in El Granada with the help of bystanders, according to Cal Fire CZU.
The surfer, a man in his late 50s, collapsed on the sidewalk after getting out of the water and walking up the stairs on Saturday afternoon.
Bystanders immediately called 911 and began CPR on the man.

Battalion Chief David Hibdon and other firefighters with Engine 41 responded within minutes and continued CPR for another five to eight minutes.
The man regained consciousness by the time he was loaded into an ambulance.
