Crash Briefly Closes SMC's Highway 1 In Both Directions
UPDATED: The roadway was closed for more than an hour.

UPDATE 4:30 P.M.: San Mateo County sheriff's officials say the roadway has reopened.
"Highway 1 just south of the Devils Slide Tunnel has reopened in both directions," officials said. "Due to heavy traffic, please continue to use caution in the area."
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — State Highway 1 is closed in both directions Friday afternoon just south of the Devils Slide Tunnel because of a crash, San Mateo County sheriff's officials said. An alert for the closure was issued at 3:12 p.m.

"The Sheriff's Office and Fire Department are on scene," the sheriff's office said in an emailed alert. "There is no estimate for when the roadway will reopen."
Sheriff's officials are asking drivers to use alternate routes.
