Bay Area Reckless Driver With Passenger Hanging Out The Window Arrested: Police
Police said they also found a gun with a high-capacity magazine that was thrown from the suspect's car while they fled.
COLMA, CA — Officers arrested a 30-year-old Vallejo resident who fled from police after they tried to pull him over for driving recklessly in Colma, police announced Friday.
At around 1:42 p.m. on Oct. 3, Colma Police Department officers said they responded to the area of Serramonte Boulevard and El Camino Real after they received a call of cars driving recklessly with people hanging out of the windows.
When officers arrived they said they found a grey Hyundai driving with the front passenger hanging out of the window. Police said they tried to pull them over but the driver fled at a high rate of speed.

After a short pursuit, the car stopped near El Camino Real and Hickey Boulevard due to heavy traffic.
Police said they detained the driver, Devonte Davenport, 30, of Vallejo, and his two passengers.

A witness flagged down an officer and told them that a gun was on the ground near the area where the driver had originally fled from.
Officers said they viewed surveillance footage that showed the gun being thrown from the Hyundai during the pursuit.
The gun was found and officers said it was loaded with a high-capacity magazine.
Police said they checked Davenport's DMV record and found he was driving on a suspended license and had previously been convicted of a felony. A records check into the gun revealed the it was not registered in California, and police said they are investigating to determine the owner.
Police said they arrested Davenport for being a felon in possession of a firearm, being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition, being in possession of a high-capacity magazine, being in possession of a loaded firearm in public, being in possession of a firearm and not being the registered owner, evading police with due regard to public safety, and driving on a suspended license.
He was booked into the San Mateo County Jail, police said.
