Surfer Safe After Rescue Off Linda Mar Beach
A surfer made it to shore safely after a close call Thursday morning as dangerous surf conditions continue across the Bay Area.

PACIFICA, CA — A surfer made it to safety after a scare Thursday that drew a coordinated emergency response to Linda Mar Beach.
The rescue operation came amid tidal surges and a high surf warning in place across the NorCal coast, with forecasters warning breaking waves could exceed 30 feet in some areas. The Northern California Fire Authority worked with the U.S. Coast Guard to reach a surfer in distress that was reported around 8:30 a.m.
Less than an hour later, officials said a Coast Guard helicopter helped first responders spot the surfer, who was able to reach shore on his own. Emergency officials asked residents and visitors to continue to use caution along all coastlines until the surge subsides.
