DWP Launches Water Dashboard Amid 'Do Not Drink' Orders In Palisades

Water officials say they're working to restore drinking water quality in areas impacted by the Palisades Fire.

PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power this week launched an online dashboard to provide updates on the safety of drinking water in Pacific Palisades and other areas impacted by "Do Not Drink" notices.

Customers in the affected areas, which include most of the 90272 Zip Code and portions of the LADWP Service Area immediately south of 90272, north of San Vicente Boulevard, can use the dashboard to determine their water-service zone.

The dashboard offers information on each zone's restoration status, test results and more. That includes "flushing progress," which identifies each step of the restoration process and how the DWP is working with regulators to meet standards.

"As customers throughout Pacific Palisades begin the recovery process and our water system staff work to flush, test the water and work to lift the 'Do Not Drink' notice in effect in the area, this new online tool puts timely and transparent information at our customers' fingertips," LADWP CEO Janisse Quiñones said in a statement.

DWP is working with the California State Water Resources Control Board's Division of Drinking Water to systematically flush, clean, and rigorously test the water system across the affected areas.

A "rigorous and thorough" process of sampling and retesting ensures that water served to customers meets all regulatory water quality standards before the "Do Not Drink" notice can be lifted, according to DWP officials.

Officials encouraged residents to continue the use of bottled water for drinking, food preparation, brushing teeth, making ice, and other necessary uses.

Complimentary bottled water is available for affected customers at designated LADWP distribution locations. For the latest updates and to use the Water Quality Restoration Dashboard, visit the DWP's website.
