LOS ANGELES, CA — When the University High School boys’ lacrosse team didn’t have enough players for a key semifinal game against Palisades Charter High School — because the prom was scheduled on the same night — the team forfeited the match.
Now, the University High team is facing a $100 fine — as well as a much more painful punishment, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The forfeited game was Friday night's City Section semifinal. University didn't have enough players, because many members of the team chose to go to prom instead.

The team will be banned from next year's playoffs under City Section rules, the Times reported.
The lacrosse finals are set for Wednesday, when El Camino Real will face off against Palisades.
