PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — Palisadians will come together on Sept. 30 for a celebration of the organizations and people that make the tight-knit community such a unique place to live.

The Pacific Palisades Community Council's 50th Anniversary Jubilee & Community Celebration, the first of its kind, is set for noon to 4 p.m. at Simon Meadow. The council is just one of over a dozen long-running community organizations whose birthdays will be marked at the event, which will include music, food, specialty coffee and desserts — all underwritten by Palisades community members and institutions.

"We do all come together," Community Council President Maryam Zar told Patch. "Every organization does the things they do to keep the Palisades special, even as modern life rolls in. This event highlights that."

Each of the participating organizations will give out an award to a volunteer in their organization. "There are hundreds of people who give their time to dozens of organizations, each do their own thing, very few overlap, and they do create the fabric of Pacific Palisades," Zar said.

City Councilwoman Traci Park, state Sen. Ben Allen, Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin, LAPD Deputy Chief Blake Chow, West LA Commander Jonathan Tom and Assistant Fire Chief Dean Zipperman will be in attendance and/or make presentations or proclamations.
