Plane Makes Emergency Landing At LA Country Club

An airplane made an emergency landing at a Los Angeles country club Friday afternoon.

PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — An airplane made an emergency landing at Riviera Country Club Friday afternoon.

The emergency landing occurred just before 1 p.m. The plane, which was supposed to land at the nearby Santa Monica Airport, was unable to do so and instead made an impromptu touchdown at the country club, according to a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson.

"It did land safely at Rivera Country Club," the LAFD's Lyndsey Lantz told Patch. "There were three persons on board, they were all unharmed."

It's unclear why exactly the plane's pilot made the emergency landing. Lantz said the LAFD was assessing the plane about 45 minutes after the landing.

This isn't the first time a plane headed to or from Santa Monica Airport made an unexpected landing at a golf course. Actor Harrison was injured in 2015 when he crashed a World War II-era aircraft on a Venice golf course shortly after takeoff from the airport.
