ROCA Now Serving Roman-Style Pizza In Palisades Village
It's the first permanent location of the Roman-style pizza joint started by the co-founder of California Pizza Kitchen.

PACIFIC PALISADES, CA – ROCA Pizza is now serving square, Roman-style slices in Palisades Village.
It’s the restaurant's first permanent location, which opened March 6. ROCA began in 2021 as a long-term popup at the Americana at Brand in Glendale to rave reviews. Owners Rick Rosenfield – co-founder of California Pizza Kitchen – and his wife Esther already have another location in the works, at Marina del Rey’s Waterside development. That location is set to open this summer, according to a news release.
The name ROCA is a mashup of the restaurant's square-style of pizza, "RO" and California-inspired ethos, "CA." The slices include vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options, while toppings include goat cheese, guanciale and Kalamata olive tapenade.

And like any good pizzeria, the dough is crucial – "perfected down to a science after more than 70 years of research and development in Rome, and discovered by the Rosenfields a decade ago." The dough is long-cold fermented for up to 72 hours, which helps create an airy, puffy rise in the dough that gets delightfully crispy when baked (in specialized Italian ovens, of course).
“Palisades Village is an important part of the Palisades community and the ideal backdrop for our artisanal product, with its vibrant mix of retailers and impressive culinary offerings" Rick Rosenfield said in a release. "The new space reflects ROCA’s ethos and showcases a product we are extremely proud of, we are eager to introduce ROCA to LA’s Westside”
