Sandbags Placed Along Castellammare Streets To Prevent Flooding

The sandbags will help prevent flooding in the Castellammare area, officials said.

PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — Crews recently placed sandbags along streets in the Castellammare neighborhood ahead of the rainy season.

Councilwoman Traci Park's office and the city Bureau of Engineering teamed up on Thursday to place sandbags along Revello and Castellammare drives, which Park's office said will help prevent flooding.

The neighborhood perched above Pacific Coast Highway has long been impacted by drainage issues and landslides.

Several homes were destroyed in the 1936 Revello Slide.

And work is ongoing to address the nearby Tramonto Slide.

Residents concerned about flooding on their own properties are entitled to free sandbags. Sandbags and sand are available at the Los Angeles Fire Department station at 17281 Sunset Blvd. More information is available on the LAFD website.
