After Storm-Fueled Collapse, Status Report Sought On Coastal Bike Trail Repairs
Councilwoman Traci Park is prodding public officials for an update on the status of repairs to the trail two months after it collapsed.

PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — Two months after a segment of the coastal Marvin Braude Bike Trail collapsed from storm damage, city Councilwoman Traci Park is prodding public officials for an update on the status of repairs.
The trail, which runs 22 miles from Pacific Palisades to Torrance Beach, has been closed between Chautauqua Boulevard and Entrada Drive at the beginning of February. Photos shared by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works appear to show that the storm caused the path to collapse onto the beach below.
Park on March 22 introduced a motion asking the city Department of Transportation to report on the damage to the trail and Los Angeles County's efforts to repair the damage. The majority of the trail is within the county's jurisdiction and repairs are its responsibility, Park wrote.

"As this facility is widely considered the region’s most popular bike path with an estimated 10,000 people a day using the route, it is critical to restore it to public use as soon as possible," she wrote.
The collapse came less than a year after the final stretch of the trail was upgraded, which gave the entirety of the route dedicated pedestrian and bike lanes.
