1 Firefighter, 1 Civilian Injured In La Quinta House Fire

The blaze was reported in the 80000 block of Via Valerosa, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

LA QUINTA, CA — Two people, including a firefighter, were injured Monday in a residential construction fire in La Quinta.

The blaze was reported shortly before 1 p.m. Monday in the 80000 block of Via Valerosa, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

Arriving crews discovered smoke and flames emanating from the roof of a single-family house under construction, according to the department. RCFD personnel were able to contain the fire at about 3 p.m.

April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department told City News Service one civilian suffered unspecified minor injuries and was taken to a hospital. The department later said a firefighter had also been taken to a hospital for a "minor to moderate lower extremity injury."
