32 Citations, 2 Arrests During Palm Desert DUI Checkpoint
The checkpoint was held at Fred Waring Drive and Portola Avenue.

PALM DESERT, CA — Deputies were busy during a recent DUI checkpoint in Palm Desert that resulted in two people being arrested and 32 citations handed out.
During the checkpoint held from 6 p.m. Dec. 27 to 2 a.m. Dec. 28 at Fred Waring Drive and Portola Avenue, a total of 792 vehicles were stopped.
During routine questioning of the motorists, it was found that 29 of them were driving without a license, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. Another three motorists were driving on a suspended license, the agency said.

Additionally, one person was arrested on suspicion of DUI and possession of a loaded firearm, while a second person was taken into custody on a warrant for driving on a suspended license, according to the sheriff's department.
During DUI checkpoints, deputies ask for proof of driver eligibility and check motorists for signs of impairment from alcohol, drugs, prescription medications, and over-the-counter products.
